2020 is a year full of change, and that doesn’t exclude us. While you may have been familiar with our software and blog as Mainstage in the past, we’re thrilled to announce that our platform will undergo a rebrand for the platform to reach its full potential. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, please welcome our new name, Stagent.
So, why did we make the choice to rename our platform?
The decision was a hard one, as we already set our hearts on the Mainstage name and saw a bright future for the brand. We were very excited to make Mainstage a staple of the music industry, and we put in countless hours of work to make the brand the best it can be. Unfortunately, we reached a bump in the road regarding the trademark.
You may or may not be aware of Apple’s live music software, which is also called Mainstage. We initially reached an agreement with Apple in terms of the trademark before creating the platform. However, early 2020 we received a notice from them asking us to change the name once again. We worked very hard to fight for the name, which we thought we were allowed to use, especially since the two products serve different functions. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out as we had hoped, leading us down a path where we had to find a new name for our platform.
Our new name, Stagent, is a mix of the words stage and agent, two essential elements in the music bookings world. While it may have been a challenge to come up with a new name, we’re happy to say that we now have a new, creative, and unique name representing us. We’re very excited to get to business with our new name and to build the brand up even bigger and better than before.
It’s been a challenging few weeks for our brand, but I’m very happy to say that we’ve found a path forward. Stagent will carry on the spirit of Mainstage in a new and innovative way.
